Invisible Children has landed in EUROPE!!! We've embarked on a UK and Ireland spring tour, hosted 5 rescue events and met a lot of amazing people who have become a part in bringing this movement to their home countries. This expansion will only get bigger and better but we still need your help!! Join the movement as we head into our Autumn Tour 2009!

It’s been a while…..

So once again it’s time for a long overdue update…..The past few months have been a bit crazy at IC Europe HQ……we’ve went through a lot of changes, said goodbye to a lot of well loved faces and said hello to some new ones. We had a crazily busy summer and the IC Europe team went into overdrive. Armed with our team of awesome summer interns we tackled festivals galore and spread the word of IC all across Europe. The most notable of those festivals was Soul Survivor where we got the chance to exhibit at a festival of around 25,000 young people from all over the UK. It was so exciting and encouraging to get such positive responses and to see the dots start to connect! We spoke to people who had previously met the spring roadies and knew all about IC, we had demand to be back in schools, colleges and Universities later in the year and had a lot of encouragement and support from people that are shaping the foundation of the IC movement in Europe. Major kudos must go to one of our superstar interns Lea, who spent almost 2 weeks in a tent at Soul Survivor and talking to hundreds of people a day about IC. Thanks for stepping up to the plate when we were struggling Lea, we couldn’t have done it without you!!

  • If I was to sum up more of the summer in bullet points it would look like this…. Summer Madness, Truck Festival, Frenzy, Imagine,Soul Survivor, Rockness, setting up make-shift stalls on London’s Southbank and accosting passers by and joggers with smiles and ‘who we are’ cards……more of that story later!
  • Over the summer we had probably the biggest team IC Europe has ever had, and we were on fire! Our amazing interns and volunteers worked so hard all summer with amazing results, to mark the end of this we had a team bonding trip on the London Eye……it makes it so much better when it’s free :)
  • We formed a team of awesome IC “Ambassadors” for Europe. These guys are from all over Europe from London to Glasgow, Munich to the Czech Republic, Paris, Holland and Belfast. They are setting up clubs in their schools and Universities, holding fundraisers, house parties and getting IC Europe on the map! Watch this space!!
  • Farewells were said to our interns who had firmly become part of the family- Molly, Ashlee and Mike returned to the states and we miss them!! Our brit based interns also finished but are still taking the IC story all over the UK….because they are awesome!
  • phone calls, emails, boxes, tents, sleepless nights, early mornings, broken down vans, terrifying vans, dodgy parking, talking non stop….and then some, screenings on ANY surface we could find, ‘have you heard of Invisible Children?’, talking to strangers (turns out it’s not as bad as your parents lead you to believe!), goodbyes, hellos, basketball tournaments, S4S winners visit!, more boxes, ‘To do lists’ bigger than myself, tears, smiles and amazing people.

The entire summer is a bit hard to sum up now that I try…..it’s been a challenge to say the least, but it’s pretty a pretty inspiring one…..the ball is definitely rolling, let’s keep it that way!!
